Spectroelectrochemistry

Spectroelectrochemistry (SEC) is a hyphenated technique that bridges the gap between electrochemical and spectroscopic measurements. Spectroscopic techniques such as UV-VIS, Near-IR, and Raman can be integrated with electrochemical methods for deeper experimental analysis. SEC helps correlate molecular and electronic structure studies with electrochemical phenomena to provide insight into interfacial reactions and redox processes.

Combining these two techniques usually requires significant optical expertise. However, having an integrated spectroelectrochemistry instrument reduces the need for comprehensive spectroscopic or electrochemical knowledge and improves time correlation between both measurement techniques.

SEC is a powerful technique with applications in various research sectors such as:

  • Materials Science
  • Biotech
  • Pharma
  • Corrosion
  • Energy
  • Fundamental Chemistry
